Sorry for the lack of posts this week! Between the holiday weekend, work deadlines, and family stuff, my writing/posting schedule got completely thrown off.
Next week we’ll be back with a full compliment of posts, including the May 2022 Round-Up, the next chapter of Guild of Magic, and the beginning of a short story to bridge the gap for free-tier subscribers between Guild of Tokens and Guild of Magic.
In the meantime, in case you missed it:
The first session of the ARC Worlds book club went live last Friday. Stop by and discuss Guild of Tokens in the comment thread and also let me know if you are interested in doing a read-along/book club of a fantasy book in the future!
I revealed the cover of Guild of Magic over at FanFiAddict, along with a process post on how the cover was created. You can check out the cover below and please visit the Guild of Magic Kickstarter pre-launch page to sign up to get notified when the campaign launches this summer!
I expanded my Tweetscript(TM) for the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four movie into a full-fledged blog post. If you happen to know Kevin Feige, please forward along and I will name a character after you in the movie if I get the job!
Finally, with the completion of the serialization of Guild of Tokens, I am going to reshuffle the posting schedule a bit.
First, new Guild of Magic chapters will shift from Wednesday to Friday, starting next week with Chapter 28 for paid Guild members. Free-tier Guild members will receive weekly chapters as well via email, starting from chapter 1 (although I will unlock chapters 12 and 13 so that you can binge the first arc).
Second, I’m rolling out the comics section of the newsletter (tentatively titled Amazing Journey), which will be on Wednesday to align with New Comic Book Day, i.e. the day that new comics are released each week (except DC, which decided to be different and moved their release day to Tuesday in an effort to annoy comic book shop owners).
Finally, I’ll have a monthly feature (an interview, a behind-the-scenes post, etc.) on Tuesday and the monthly open thread on Thursday.
To sum it up:
Weekly
Wednesday: Comics
Friday: Fiction
Monthly
Tuesday: Interview/Building a readership series/behind-the-scenes-post
Thursday: Open thread
Floating: Monthly wrap-up
This is all tentative, so if you have any feedback, please either let me know in the comments or reply to this email!
Also, I’m going to try out a Question-of-the-Month for the open thread to encourage more comments!
This month’s question is: What movie are you looking forward to this summer? I’ll post my answer in the comments.
I'm looking forward to Thor: Love and Thunder in July, which looks to be a nice contrast to the more somber Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
