I'm looking forward to bingeing on this. I read the first couple of chapters and enjoyed them a lot, but haven't found the time to keep up with the series. Now that it's all out there I'll aim to dive in sooner rather than later.

Also, I wasn't sure if you knew this already, but just in case: you can plug your Substack into Google Analytics and therefore benefit from that enhanced data.

Thanks Simon!

I have my Google Analytics tag in Substack but haven't figured out why none of that data is showing up in GA.

Oh, weird! Did you set up a Universal Analytics or Google Analytics 4 property? I think Substack currently still only supports the older UA version.

OK I figured it out! (Without falling down the UA vs GA4 rabbit hole). I created a new property, with both UA and GA4, and then added the UA tag (different than the one I was already using for my regular website) to Substack and now I'm getting the Analytics data!

Nice! It's definitely worth having. I had a weird spike of traffic a few months back which I couldn't explain in Substack's analytics, but over on GA I was able to trace the referral back to Kieron Gillen's newsletter, where he'd kindly linked to me. Handy!

Same. It was quite exciting. :P

I don't know if I set it up at all, other than entering the UA code into Substack. I'll take a look on the GA end and figure out how to get it to start pulling the data, thanks!
